Sticky notes for Mac, iPhone and iPad

Need a hand?
Email support@businesstown.app and say what you were doing and what happened. If it's about syncing, mention which devices are involved and whether both are signed in to the same iCloud account.

Common questions

My notes aren't syncing between devices.
Check that both devices are signed in to the same iCloud account, and that iCloud Drive is on. In the app, Settings shows which account is in use. Syncing is not instant — iCloud decides when to send changes, so it usually takes seconds but can take longer if a device is locked, in the background, or in Low Power Mode. The Mac's menu bar popover shows when the last sync happened.
How long does syncing take?
Usually under a minute between two devices that are awake. A device that is asleep or has the app closed picks changes up when it next wakes.
Where did my deleted note go?
Recently Deleted, reachable from the menu bar menu on Mac and the ⋯ menu on iPhone. Notes stay there for 30 days and can be restored at any point before that.
How do I hide the Dock icon on Mac?
Menu bar icon → ⋯ → Hide Dock Icon. The app then lives in the menu bar only. The Dock icon and the menu bar icon cannot both be hidden — one has to remain, or there would be no way back into the app.
How do I add the widget on iPhone?
Pin a note first, using the pin button in the note's toolbar. Then touch and hold the Home Screen, tap +, search for BizStickies, and add the widget. It shows your pinned notes.
Can I make the text bigger?
Yes. On Mac, the text-format button in a note's toolbar sets the size and typeface for every note. The default follows your system text size.
How do checklists work?
Type [] followed by a space to start a checkbox, or - and a space for a bullet. Tap or click a box to tick it. Ticked items collect under a "Completed" heading, which you can expand or clear.
What does it need to run?
macOS 14 or later, or iOS/iPadOS 17 or later. Syncing needs an iCloud account, but the app works without one — your notes just stay on that device.
Do you have my notes?
No. They are on your device and in your own private iCloud database, which we cannot read. See the privacy policy.
